Asbestos found after the purchase

Before the purchase, you have reviewed all technical reports. No asbestos was found during the inspection and no mention of it was made in the inspection report. You assume that the house is completely asbestos-free. Yet there appears to be asbestos present in the house. How is that possible?

In France, the seller is obliged to provide a report stating whether asbestos was found in the house if it has been built before 1997. But the fact that no asbestos was found during the survey does not mean that the house is completely asbestos-free.

Because only the visible and accessible parts of the house are examined. Behind a faux-ceiling, an asbestos roof can still very well be hidden.

It is good to be aware of that.
