Thinking of buying a property in France, but don't know where to start?

Ask yourself the following questions.

Location is everything. Do you prefer remote living or do you want to be close to a lively village or town? How far do you want to live from international airports, schools, good restaurants, the coast etc.

Think about your needs and how much time you will be spending in France. Do you really want to maintain a large garden or take on a renovation project?

Know what your money can buy you. The same money buys you an apartment in Nice, a château in Dordogne, 30 sqm in Paris, an old farmhouse in the Lot or a villa in the countryside of the Var. Make sure that what you are looking for matches with reality.

Are there any areas that you already know and like? Start here. Because France is big and there are so many beautiful areas. Don’t be afraid of missing out on places that you haven’t yet discovered. By keeping it all open, you are only making it harder to find the right property.

But before all of this. Talk to your bank or financial advisor. One that is specialised in French real estate. You want to have a clear vision on your budget. So that when the right property comes along you are ready to move. Happy home hunting!
